Anna's Signature Hot Chocolate

Now that December has arrived, I can share my first winter blog post!

This is a recipe I have long awaited to share, as I have enjoyed brewing and serving it for these past several years. I experimented with different chocolates, sugars, milks, and measurements to craft, what I believe to be, one of the best hot chocolate recipes that doesn't require a boatload of effort or expensive ingredients. It does take some, I won't lie, but the TASTE makes it all worth it. This ain't some powdered stuff mixed with hot water, this is the real deal, and you deserve the real deal! It's sweet, dark, thick, creamy, and rich without being too rich.

This recipe is easily customizable for whatever chocolate, sweeteners, or milk you have on hand, so feel free to experiment yourself! Some optional add-ins include: Espresso Powder, Peppermint Extract, Maple Extract, Collagen Powder, Allspice, Powdered Ginger

Yields 3 servings, about 1 1/2 cups each.

Ingredients

  • 4 cups plain Almond Milk

  • 3 TBS Semi-sweet Chocolate Chips

  • 3 TBS Hershey's Specialty Dark Coco Powder

  • 6 TBS Brown Sugar

  • Pinch of Salt

  • A Few Shakes of Cinnamon

  • Splash of Vanilla

Directions

  1. Bring milk to a scald in a small pot or medium saucepan on high heat.

  2. When bubbles start to form around the rim, bring down to low heat.

  3. Add ingredients one at a time, whisking thoroughly in between. Make sure to add the chocolate first when the bottom of the pot is hottest.

  4. Serve warm and with love!
